Job Title: Accountant / Controller / CFO* 

*dependent on experience

JOB SUMMARY:

Manages, monitors, and maintains effective department operations in Critical Access Hospital (CAH) financial operations. Oversees a team of revenue cycle personnel and day-to-day financials. Would consider part time and/or some remote work.

REQUIRED SKILLS and QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Knowledge of United States Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP) & Auditing
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to perform a wide range of duties
  • Knowledge of general business software and aptitude to learn new application; proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting OR equivalent combination of education and experience

PREFERRED SKILLS and QUALIFICATIONS:

  • CAH experience
  • CPA
  • Previous supervisory experience
  • Budgeting and Accounts Payable experience

  • Present monthly financials to Governing Board
  • Prepare Annual budget prior to Fiscal Year End – Sept. 30th
  • Maintain General Ledgers including: Payroll and corresponding payroll tax calculations, Accruals, Expenses, Reconciliations, Journal Entries, Reconciling fixed asset schedules, Depreciation, and Sales and Use Tax filings
  • Oversee month end closing process
  • Analyze Internal financial and operations results
  • Explore and enact new accounting processes and standards to improve efficiencies
  • Act as main contact for external auditors
  • Ability to generate, read, interpret, and take action as it relates to basic financial statements, national and state regulations, operational and maintenance and organizational policy/procedures
