Swing bed is described as being 24-hour skilled nursing care plus the benefit of “rehabilitation” therapies to help patients transition to home or a long-term care facility. Swing bed can also be utilized to help rehabilitate from surgery, illness or accident, or prolonged need for IV or medication treatment.

Swing bed is like a bridge from the hospital before going home. It gives the patient time to heal and adjust before returning to everyday life. Our main purpose will be to provide you the necessary care through a collaborative team approach, facilitating therapists and skilled nursing to obtain the most optimal outcome possible.

Inpatient care is the care of patients whose condition requires admission to a hospital, extended care facility, nursing home or other facility. Inpatient hospitalization is needed for major surgeries or therapeutic services where your condition or response to medication must be monitored closely.

Observation services are short-term treatments and assessments which are provided to patients to determine whether you require further treatment as an inpatient, or if you can be discharged. Observation studies are usually needed for 24 hours or less. FCHS also offers sleep studies to our patients.
